Cars in stock must be remedied before delivery.

Cars already delivered must be rectified in connection with a scheduled visit to the garage for service or repairs.

Cars affected

Saab 9-5 M02 with engine variant D308L within VIN interval 23000132 - 23035498.

Background

Vibrations from the diesel engine cause gearchange linkage screws to lose their grip. This can cause vibrations and noise in the gear lever.

Parts required

(16) 74 96 292 Thread lock (enough for 30 cars)

Procedure

Inspect box C5 of the modification identity plate before proceeding. Continue as follows if the box has not been marked.


1. Disconnect the negative lead of the battery.

2. Detach the intake manifold between the mass air flow sensor and the turbocharger.


3. Remove the upper engine cover.

4. Remove one of the selector mechanism bracket screws from the rear engine bracket. Apply thread lock to the screw and reinsert it.


5. Repeat the same procedure on the other two screws.

6. Tighten all screws.

Tightening torque: 8 Nm (6 lbf ft)

7. Fit the upper engine cover.

8. Fit the intake manifold between the mass air flow sensor and the turbocharger.

9. Connect the negative lead of the battery.

10. Set the clock and SID.


Marking the modification identity plate

Upon completion of the procedure on affected cars in accordance with MI210-2339, MI210-2340, MI260-2342, MI432-2345 and MI871-2346, mark box C5 of the modification identity plate. If the procedure was carried out by the importer, mark the box with a "7"; if it was carried out by the dealer, mark the box with an "8".
