Background |
The belt pulley on the power steering pump has been fitted with an incorrect offset of 2.7 mm.

Procedure |
Check box C2 on the modification identity plate before proceeding. Continue as follows if the box is not marked.
Cars within VIN range 23000132 - 23031389: Check that the modification identity plate box C5 is marked. If it is not marked the procedure as per MI 210-2339 must be carried out.

Check the condition of the Multigroove V-belt.
If the belt is worn then it must be replaced as per instructions in "WIS - 9-5 (9600) - 2002 - Engine - Basic engine, V6 diesel - Adjustment/Replacement - Drive belt for auxiliaries". |

Remove the intake manifold.

Remove the nut and the rubber pad from the right-hand engine mounting.

Carefully raise the engine so that the power steering pump shaft centre lies immediately above the structural member.

Fit 89 96 415 Fitting tool, servo pump belt pulley and press in the belt pulley. The outside of the belt pulley and the shaft end must be level with each other.

Remove the fitting tool.

8. |
Lower the engine so that it hangs on the engine mounting.

9. |
Fit the rubber pad and the nut to the engine mounting.
Tightening torque nut 105 Nm (77 lbf ft) |

Remove the lifting beam.
|
11. |
Fit the intake manifold.
|
Marking the modification identity plate |
After carrying out the procedure, box C2 on the modification identity plate must be marked. Mark the box with the number "7" if the procedure was carried out by the importer or with the number "8" if carried out by the dealer.
