Cars in stock must be remedied before delivery.

A personal communication must be sent to the owners of cars already delivered requesting them to get in touch with the nearest Saab garage as soon as possible to have the fault rectified.

Cars affected

Saab 9-5 M02 with VIN 2300132-2303179.

Background

The bolt securing the suspension arm ball joint to the steering swivel member has been tightened to the wrong torque. This could lead to overtightening.

The method described in this information deviates from the corresponding information in WIS.


Parts required

51 25 745 Bolt (2 per car)

43 48 512 Nut (2 per car)

Procedure

Check box A3 of the modification identity plate before preceding. Continue as follows if the box has not been marked.


1. Raise the car.

2. Remove the bolt securing the suspension arm ball joint to the right-hand steering swivel member.

3. Fit a new nut and bolt.

Note

Make sure the journal on the ball joint sticks out through the mounting.


Tightening torque 49 Nm (36 lbf ft)

Hold the bolt still and tighten the nut to torque.

4. Repeat steps 2-3 for the left-hand steering swivel member.

5. Lower the car.


Marking the modification identity plate

On completion of the necessary work, mark box A3 on the modification identity plate. If the work is carried out by the importer, mark the box with a "7". If done by the dealer, mark it with an "8".
