Reconnection of seatbelt tensioners

Cars in stock must be remedied before delivery.

A personal communication must be sent to the owners of cars already delivered requesting them to get in touch with the nearest Saab garage as soon as possible to have the fault rectified.

Cars affected

Saab 9-5 RHD M02 with VIN 23000410-23002047.

Background

The wiring harnesses from the SRS control module to the seatbelt tensioners have been mixed up.

Parts required

79 71 864 Cable tie

Procedure

Check box A2 on the modification identity plate before proceeding. Continue as follows if the box is not marked.


1. Remove the centre console as described under "WIS - Body - Interior equipment - Adjustment/Replacement - Centre console".

2. Turn the ignition OFF.

3. Slide the driver's seat as far forward as possible.

4. Depress the catch and move the orange clamp to one side.

Remove the connector from the SRS control module.


5. Cut the cable tie holding the yellow cover and the wiring harness together.

6. Move aside the purple catch. Carefully withdraw the connector from the cover.


7. Split the connector into its two halves.


8. Remove pins 34, 35, 36 and 37.

Use 85 80 151 Kit, contact pin removal tool



9. Check that the lug on the pin is undamaged and bent slightly outward.

10. Insert the pins in accordance with the table below. You should hear a click when a pin assumes the correct position.

Warning

Make sure the pin is in the locked position and that the colour-coded cables are in the correct positions.


11. Fit the two halves of the connector together.


12. Fit the cover and the purple catch.


13. Plug in the connector to the SRS control module and lock it in place with the orange clamp.


14. Fit the cable tie.

15. Check and erase any diagnostic trouble codes using Tech 2.

16. Fit the centre console as described under "WIS - Body - Interior equipment - Adjustment/Replacement - Centre console".


Marking the modification identity plate

After carrying out the procedure, box A2 on the modification identity plate must be marked. Mark the box with the number "7" if the procedure was carried out by the importer or with the number "8" if carried out by the dealer.
