Paintwork damage to tailgate

Cars affected

Saab 9-5 5D M02-03 within Vehicle Identification Number range 23000001-33001246.

Background

On certain cars the decor panel around the number plate rests against the sheet metal which can cause paintwork damage to the tailgate at the lower corners of the decor panel.

At the same time as the damage to the tailgate is rectified, plastic washers and rubber seals must be fitted to both decor panel lower mounting points in order to prevent paintwork damage from recurring.

Symptom description

Paintwork damage to the tailgate in the areas around the lower corners of the decor panel.

Parts required

82 52 363 (CA: 30510342) Plastic washer, 2 pcs/car

69 75 403 (CA: 30502990) Rubber seal, 2 pcs/car

Procedure

Before the decor panel is refitted after repair of the tailgate, plastic washers and rubber seals must be fitted to both decor panel lower mounting points.

1.	Remove the protective paper from the rubber seal.

2.	Firmly attach the seal to the washer.

3.	Fit the washer to the lowest mounting point on the left-hand side of the decor panel with the seal facing the tailgate.

4.	Repeat steps 1 - 3 on the right-hand side of the decor panel.
