Front crankshaft seal

To remove


1. Raise the car and remove the front right wheel.

2. Remove the lower engine cover and drive belt cover.


3. Mark the direction of rotation, take the tension off the belt tensioner and remove the multigroove belt.


4. Remove the crankshaft pulley using 83 95 360 Support, crankshaft pulley .

5. Prise out the seal using a screwdriver without damaging the sealing surfaces.



To fit


1. Clean the sealing surfaces.

2. Lubricate the new sea with non-acidic Vaseline and position it on 83 95 410 Assembly tool, front crankshaft seal .


3. Position the seal with the protective collar and assembly tool on the crankshaft. Pull in the seal until it is flush with the timing cover using the crankshaft pulley bolt.

4. Fit the crankshaft pulley with a new bolt. Use 83 95 360 Support, crankshaft pulley .

Tightening torque: 150 Nm + 45° (111 lbf ft + 45°)


5. Fit the multigroove belt and check its location on all pulleys.

6. Fit the drive belt cover and the lower engine cover.


7. Fit the wheel .

8. Lower the car, check the engine oil level and top up as necessary.
