Symptom: CHECK ENGINE. Loss of performance.

P1271

Pedal Position Sensor Circuit. Plausibility Fault Between Circuit 1 and 2.

Fault symptoms

CHECK ENGINE.

Loss of performance.

On-Board Diagnostics

Type of diagnosis:

- Continuous.

Enable criteria:

- Ignition ON.

- Battery voltage should be 10.2-15.8 V.

- P0122, P0123, P0222 or P0223 should not be detected.

Fault criteria:

- The permissible difference between pedal position sensors 1 and 2 is exceeded for more than 1.2 s in working position.

Dependents:

- None.

System reaction to a fault:

- The control module will continue working with the value that is lower between pedal position sensors 1 and 2. The following limitations apply: Fuel quantity max 30 mm 3 /combustion, idling speed set to 1500 rpm.

OK report:

- Fault criteria not fulfilled.

Fault handling: (See section Fault handling III, other emissions-related components and functions for more information)

- Type III.

Diagnostic help

Fault diagnosis concerns an electrical fault in connecting leads or in the sensor.

Functions in the diagnostic tool related to the fault:

- Read value: Pedal Position Sensor 1, Pedal Position Sensor 2, Pedal Position

See also description of read value under "Read Values" menu for more information.

Checking the wiring

Jiggle the wiring harness at several points and in different directions to detect intermittent breaks and short circuits. Observe the multimeter, diagnostic tool or test lamp during the check.
