Intake air temperature sensor

Intake air temperature sensor

The temperature sensor, which is mounted on the intake manifold and is flushed with the input air mass, is used to inform the engine control module of the input air temperature. The control module uses this value to calculate how must to open or close the EGR valve to maintain the combustion temperature sufficiently high to reduce the level of NO x . The sensor is of NTC type. The control module measures air temperature in the intake manifold by supplying 5 V to the sensor through a 2.74 kOhm resistor (built into the control module) from pin 29. The sensor is grounded from pin 31. The voltage across the resistor in the control module is proportional to the intake air temperature.

Diagnostics

If the temperature sensor input is short-circuited to B+, DTC P0113 will be generated.

If the temperature sensor input is short-circuited to ground, DTC P0112 will be generated.

System reaction to a fault

As soon as the control module detects the fault, a substitute value of 50°C is used.

EGR control is disengaged.
