Catalytic converter, V6

To remove


1. Raise the car.

2. Remove the lower engine cover.


3. Remove the catalytic converter from the front exhaust pipe.


4. Remove the bolts from the catalytic converter bracket on the gearbox.

5. Lower the car to the floor.

6. Remove the intake manifold from the mass air flow sensor to the turbocharger.

7. Remove the upper engine cover.

8. Detach the turbo pressure hose from the intake manifold.


9. Remove the turbocharger heat shield.

10. Remove the catalytic converter from the turbocharger.


To fit


1. Fit the catalytic converter to the turbocharger, apply Molykote 1000, part no. 30 20 791 to the screw studs. Do not tighten the nuts.

2. Raise the car.

3. Fit the bolts to the bracket on the gearbox.

Tightening torque: 24 Nm (18 lbf ft)


4. Fit the catalytic converter to the front pipe.

Tightening torque: 24 Nm (18 lbf ft)

5. Fit the lower engine cover.


6. Lower the car to the floor.

7. Tighten the catalytic converter nuts on the turbocharger.

Tightening torque: 24 Nm (18 lbf ft)


8. Fit the turbocharger heat shield.

9. Fit the turbocharger delivery hose to the upper intake manifold.

10. Fit the upper engine cover.

11. Fit the intake manifold to the mass air flow sensor and turbocharger.

Tightening torque, mass air flow sensor: 3.5 Nm (2.5 lbf ft)
