Front exhaust pipe (flex-pipe), 4-cyl

Front exhaust pipe (flex-pipe), 4-cyl

Warning

The exhaust pipe from the turbocharger can be extremely hot. Proceed with caution.


To remove


1. Remove the upper engine cover.


2. Loosen the cable support from the camshaft cover and the electrical connections from the glow plugs. Move aside.


3. Remove the heat shield over the turbocharger.

4. Remove the nuts in the connection to the catalytic converter.


5. Raise the car.

6. Remove the lower engine cover.


7. Remove the two front nuts in the connection between the exhaust flex-pipe and the turbocharger.


8. Lower the car to the floor.

9. Remove the rear nut in the connection between the exhaust flex-pipe and the turbocharger.

10. Remove the exhaust flex-pipe.


To fit


1. Fit the exhaust flex-pipe with new seal.

2. Coat the studs with 90 513 210 Universal paste . Fit the rear nut.


3. Raise the car.

4. Fit the two remaining nuts in the joint between the turbocharger and the exhaust flex-pipe.

Tightening torque: 25 Nm (19 lbf ft)

5. Fit the nuts in the connection between the catalytic converter pipe and the exhaust flex-pipe.

6. Fit the lower engine cover.


7. Lower the car to the floor.

8. Tighten the nuts alternately in the connection between the exhaust flex-pipe and the catalytic converter pipe.


Tightening torque: 25 Nm (19 lbf ft)

9. Fit the heat shield over the turbocharger.


10. Put the cable support back in place and fit. Connect the glow plugs.

11. Replace the upper engine cover.
