Control module, glow plugs
Control module, glow plugs |
The task of the glow plug control module is to activate the glow plugs on the command of the engine management system. It is fed with +30 from fuse F1 (60 A) while grounding occurs with pin 7 to G30.
The glow plug control module has an integrated diagnostic function to monitor the glow plugs. When a fault occurs, the engine control module is informed via a lead from connector pin 9 to engine control module connection 4.
When the engine control module draws pin 4 to ground, the glow plug control module is activated, meaning that pins 1 and 2 on the control module are supplied with voltage. The glow plugs are connected in pairs to pins 1 and 2.
When the voltage on pin 8 (B+) exceeds 12 V, such as when the engine is started, the control module alternately supplies pin 1 and pin 2 with voltage. The alternation between pins 1 and 2 occurs with 5 Hz. The power supply is pulsed alternately this way to lower power consumption.
Diagnostics |
Upon a general system fault in the glow function, the following DTCs are generated:
P0380 Glow Control Module Feedback Error.
P1380 Glow Control Module Feedback Error.
If the activation circuit (K4) is open, DTC P1381 is generated.
If the activation circuit (pin K4) is shorted to B+, DTC P1383 is generated.
If the activation circuit (pin K4) is shorted to ground, DTC P1384 is generated.
