Injectors

Injectors

The injectors are of solenoid type with needle and seat. They open when current flows through the coil and a powerful spring closes them when the current is cut off.

In order to achieve the best possible emission control and drivability, the injectors are fixed by the fuel rail so that the jets of fuel do not strike the walls of the intake manifold.



The injectors are supplied with current from the main relay and are grounded by the control module as follows:


Injector 1 is controlled from pin 45.

Injector 2 is controlled from pin 44.

Injector 3 is controlled from pin 67.

Injector 4 is controlled from pin 68.

Injector 5 is controlled from pin 21.

Injector 6 is controlled from pin 20.


The microprocessor controls the transistor concerned according to the firing order so that injection is finished roughly when the inlet valve opens for the cylinder concerned.

Diagnostics


If a break or short-circuit to ground or B+ occurs for any injector, diagnostic trouble code P1676 will be generated.

Closed loop control system blocked.
