Gear lever housing
| Gear lever housing | 
| 1. | Remove the centre console as described in group 8 "Body, Interior equipment". | |
| 2. | Engage 4th gear and secure 4th in the gearbox with
       
        87 92 335 Locking pin
       
       . | |
| 3. | Undo the pinch-bolt clamp to the selector rod universal joint. | |
| 4. | Remove the bolts securing the gear lever housing.   | |
| 5. | Lift the gear lever housing and unplug the electrical connection to the ignition switch. | |
| 6. | Lift out the gear lever housing. | |
| To fit | 
 
   
   | 1. | Insert the end of the selector rod through the rubber gaiter. Put the gear lever housing in place in the car. | |
| 2. | Plug in the electrical connection to the ignition switch and fit the cable entry into the gear lever housing. | |
| 3. | Fit the air duct before bolting down the gear lever housing. | |
| 4. | Tighten the gear lever housing (4 bolts). Note that there are 2 guide pins on the gear lever housing. Tightening torque 8 Nm (6 lbf ft) | |
| 5. | Engage 4th gear and insert locking pin 87 92 632  into the gear lever housing. | |
| 6. | Tighten the pinch-bolt clamp at the gear linkage in the engine bay.   Tightening torque: 22 Nm (16 lbf ft). | |
| 7. | Remove the locking pin from the gearbox and gear lever housing. Fit the plug on the gearbox. | |
| 8. | Check that all gears can be engaged and that the key can be removed in reverse. | |
| 9. | Fit the centre console as described in group 8 "Body, Interior equipment". | |
