Evaporator high-pressure pipe (V6)

Evaporator high-pressure pipe (V6)

To remove

The evaporator's high-pressure pipe consists of two pipes running from the receiver via a joint by the RH structural member behind the RH headlamp to the expansion valve.

1. Place the car on a lift.

2. Drain the refrigerant from the A/C system. See Draining and filling of refrigerant .

3. Detach the inlet hose with mass air flow sensor, without unplugging the connector, and place it on one side.

4. Detach the front end of the high-pressure pipe from the joint of the RH structural member behind the RH headlamp. Plug the openings.

5. Raise the car.

6. Detach the pipe from the receiver and plug the openings.

Important

If the desiccant container has been open for more than 15 minutes in total, it should be changed.

7. Loosen the pipe from the holders on the subframe and remove it.

Note

Make a note of how the pipe is positioned before removing it.

8. Lower the car to the floor.

9. Loosen and push aside the power-steering oil container.

10. Detach the rear end of the high-pressure pipe from the expansion valve.

Plug the openings.

11. Loosen the high-pressure pipe from the holders on the structural member.

12. Carefully lift out the high-pressure pipe.

To fit

1. Position the rear end of the high-pressure pipe.

2. Remove the plugs. Replace and lubricate the O-rings on the high-pressure pipe with synthetic vaseline, part no. 30 15 286.

3. Connect the high-pressure pipe to the expansion valve.

Tightening torque: 8 Nm (6 lbf ft)

4. Fasten the pipe with the holders on the structural member.

5. Fit the power-steering oil container.

6. Position the front end of the high-pressure pipe.

Note

Start by inserting the right-hand end of the pipe from left to right down under the compressor. If the pipe is located correctly, it should now fall in place.

7. Remove the plugs. Replace and lubricate the O-rings on both ends of the high-pressure pipe with synthetic vaseline, part no. 30 15 286.

8. Raise the car.

9. Connect the pipe's PAD connector to the receiver.

Tightening torque: 8 Nm (6 lbf ft)

10. Fasten the pipe with the holders on the subframe.

11. Adjust the oil level in the compressor. See Filling and adjustment of compressor oil .

Connect the high-pressure pipe to the joint on the console behind the right-hand headlamp.

Tightening torque: 8 Nm (6 lbf ft)

12. Fit the inlet hose with mass air flow sensor.

13. Evacuate the A/C system and refill with refrigerant. See Draining and filling of refrigerant .
