Raise the car.
|
2.

Remove the lower front cover.
|
3.
|
Remove the engine oil cooler's screws.
|
4.
|
Undo the nut that connects the hoses to the engine oil cooler.
|
5.
|
Carefully divide the connection.
Important
|
Use a screwdriver when separating the connection. This could involve damage to the O-ring and seat.
|

Note
|
There is an O-ring at each connection.
|
Keep a receptacle available to collect oil from the engine oil cooler/hoses.
|

Lift down the engine oil cooler.
|
Note
|
Check the roundness of the O-rings and replace as necessary.

Fit the O-rings, coat them with Gleitmo 805, part no. 30 06 442.
|
2.
|
Fitting the engine oil cooler takes place in reverse order. Fill the engine oil cooler with the recommended engine oil.
Tightening torques:
Oil pipe, engine oil cooler, nut, up to and including Vehicle Identification Number 73514907:
10 Nm (7.4 lbf ft)
Oil pipe, engine oil cooler, nut, from and including Vehicle Identification Number 73514908:
8 Nm (5.9 lbf ft)
Charge air cooler/engine oil cooler 8 Nm (5.9 lbf ft)

When the engine oil cooler has been fitted, start the engine and check for any oil leakage.

4.
|
Switch off the engine and check the oil level after about 5 minutes.
