Checking EGR cooling hoses

Loosen and close cover on the expansion tank in order to release any excess pressure in the cooling system.
|

Remove the upper engine cover
|
3.
|
Block the lower cooling hose with pinch-off pliers near its opening.
|
4.
|
Keep a piece of paper or the like handy to catch any coolant spillage. Loosen the lower cooling hose from the EGR valve.
|
5.
|
Pinch off the upper cooling hose with your hand and check if coolant comes out of the EGR valve pipe. If no coolant comes out, the upper hose is clogged and must be replaced.

Remove the pinch-off pliers from the lower cooling hose. Move the pliers and pinch off the upper cooling hose to the EGR valve.

7.
|
Pinch off the upper cooling hose with your hand and check if any coolant comes out of the lower EGR cooling hose. If no coolant comes out, the lower hose is clogged and must be replaced.

8.
|
Fit the cooling hose to the EGR valve and remove the pinch-off pliers.
|
9.
|
Check the coolant level, start the engine and check for leaks.
|
10.
|
Fit the upper engine cover
|
11.
|
Clear DTCs, test drive the car and check that there are no DTCs.
|
