Engine stops / idle speed control out of order

Fault symptoms

Engine will not start/starts but stops after about 2 seconds. Alternatively, the engine starts but it is impossible to control idling speed after about 2 seconds.

Conditions

The following conditions apply for this fault symptom:

No DTCs stored in car.

All fuses whole.

Battery in good condition.

No fault in fuel system.

Diagnostic help

Most functions that could cause the engine to either not start or die while running are monitored by self-diagnostics and thus generate a DTC if they are faulty.

Fault diagnosis only covers the solenoid valve and the corresponding shut-off damper.

The power supply to the solenoid valve is not monitored by the engine management system.

Check the wiring

Jiggle the leads and in-line connectors at various points and in different directions to detect any intermittent breaks or short circuits in the wiring. Observe the multimeter, test lamp or diagnostic tool while doing this.
