Steering wheel controls
Steering wheel controls |
General |
The audio system can also be controlled with the steering wheel switches (the control buttons are located on the steering wheel). The switches comprise two units (six connectors). Detailed information is given in the Owner's Manual.
The steering wheel switches are connected to SID and present information on the connectors that are active. SID sends information on the buttons to the bus which is then read by the head unit.
Function |
SID supplies +5 V to the steering wheel controls via pin 24, and grounds them via pin 23.
The six connectors comprise six resistors connected in series. When a button is pressed, the connector in question is grounded (see the table).
When a connector is pressed, the total resistance in the circuit changes, as does the voltage value which SID then reads.
Diagnosis |
If there is an open or short circuit to B+ or short circuit to ground for more than 5 minutes, the SID will generate diagnostic trouble code B2371.
