Cold start with auto selected
When cold starting, the windscreen must first be defrosted or demisted. Afterwards, the cabin will be heated as quickly as possible. When the outside air and the coolant are cold, the fan speed must be adjusted so that the air temperature after the heat exchanger is as high as possible.
If the calculated head level temperature for the driver is lower than what the driver has set on the ACC unit display and the outside temperature is below 6°C, the air distribution will be dependent on the coolant temperature until the defrost/floor position has been reached, see illustration.
Adjustment
The ACC unit can be adjusted with the diagnostics tool to:
•
alter the outside temperature limit below which the defrost position is selected when cold starting
•
alter the coolant temperature limit above which defrost/floor is selected when the engine is warmed up after cold starting
As long as the calculated temperatures at head height for the front seat passenger and the driver are lower than the those set, the fan current will be determined by the coolant temperature and the outside temperature, see illustration.
