Rear engine mounting

Rear engine mounting

To remove


1. Remove the battery cover and disconnect the negative battery cable.


2. Remove the upper intake manifold between the mass air flow sensor and the turbocharger.

3. Remove the upper engine cover.

4. Remove the gear linkage mounting from the rear engine mounting bracket.

5. Fit 83 94 850 Lifting beam and take the weight off the engine.


6. Remove the nut from the right-hand engine mounting.


7. Remove the rear engine mounting lock nut.


8. Remove the bolts in the engine mounting and raise the car.

9. Remove the lower engine cover.


10. Remove the front bolt in the torque arm.

11. Remove the front exhaust pipe with bracket.


12. Remove the subframe rear bolts and the triangle plates. Place a wedge between the subframe mountings and the body.

13. Lower the car and raise the engine as high as possible using the lifting sling.

14. Raise the car and remove the rear engine mounting and mounting pad. Prise carefully between the subframe and the oil pan if there is not enough room.



To fit


1. Position the engine mounting and mounting pad. Prise carefully between the subframe and the oil pan if there is not enough room. Fit the mounting pad and insert the bolts.


2. Refit the engine mounting.

Tightening torque 60 Nm + 60° (44 lbf ft + 60°)

3. Remove the wedge and fit the subframe bolts on both sides as well as the triangle plates.

Tightening torque, subframe 100 Nm + 45° (74 lbf ft + 45°)

Tightening torque, triangle plates 63 Nm (46 lbf ft)


4. Fit the front exhaust pipe with bracket.

5. Lower the car and tighten the mounting pad bolts.

Tightening torque 26 Nm (19 lbf ft)


6. Lower the car and make sure the engine is positioned correctly on the mountings.

7. Remove the lifting beam and mount the nut for the right-hand engine mounting pad.

Tightening torque 105 Nm (77 lbf ft)


8. Fit the lock nut on the rear engine mounting pad.

Tightening torque: 47 Nm (35 lbf ft)


9. Fit the gear linkage mounting onto the engine mounting bracket.

Tightening torque Nm

10. Raise the car and fit the front bolt on the torque arm and the nut on the charge air pipe.

Tightening torque, torque arm 90 Nm + 90° (66 lbf ft + 90°)


11. Fit the lower engine cover.

12. Lower the car and fit the upper engine cover and the intake manifold between the mass air flow sensor and the turbocharger.

Tightening torque, mass air flow sensor: 3.5 Nm (2.5 lbf ft)


13. Connect the negative battery terminal and fit the battery cover.

14. Set the car clock.
