Drive belt for auxiliaries

The belt circuit is mounted outside the lower timing cover. The crankshaft belt pulley has a rubber damper to reduce noise as well as vibration. The belt circuit has a single drive belt for auxiliary equipment. It is made of a special rubber material comprising various types of reinforced rubber. The belt is thin to retain its pliability for driving in both directions and for driving pulleys on both sides of the belt.

The inner face of the drive belt has V grooves. The V shaped surface lies against the crankshaft and auxiliary belt pulleys. It outer face is smooth and runs on the curved guide wheels. The drive belt runs on the following belt pulleys:

- Belt tensioner

- 3 idler pulleys

- Power steering pump

- A/C compressor

- Crankshaft

- Generator

The crankshaft is the power source for driving the auxiliary equipment. The oil-damped belt tensioner automatically adjusts itself to varying loads and provides optimum and continuous belt tension to prevent slipping.
