Bleeding the cooling system, 4-cyl

1.

Fill the system to the MAX level using Saab Genuine coolant, part no. 400 131 389 (1 litre), 400 131 397 (4 litres) and close the expansion tank cap (coolant is blended - equal parts coolant and water).

|
2.
|
Attach the exhaust hose.
|
|
3.
|
Start the engine and run the engine briefly at varying rpm.
|
|
4.
|
Check for coolant flow through the bleed hose from the connection at the thermostat housing in the cylinder head to the expansion tank.
|
|
5.
|
Top up the coolant and tighten the expansion tank cap.
|
|
6.
|
Run the engine at varying rpm until the thermostat opens (radiator fan starts).
|
|
7.
|
Switch off the engine and top up coolant as needed to MAX level.
|
