Position sensor guide rails, turbocharger

Position sensor guide rails, turbocharger

The sensor is supplied with 5V from control module pin 98 and is grounded via control module pin 87. It is a potentiometer located in the wastegate. The sensor detects how much or how little the guide rails in the turbocharger have turned, i.e. that there is sufficient air for the combustion to attain correct torque. The control module is given a precise picture of the state of the turbo control, which enables fast and precise control of the turbo pressure.

Diagnostics

If the position sensor input is short-circuited to ground or if there is a break in the circuit, DTC P0237 will be generated.

If the position sensor input is shorted to B+, DTC P0238 will be generated.

System reaction to a fault

P0237

Boost pressure control disengaged.

P0238

The control module will continue to use a substitute value for the fuel pressure that is the same as the calculated.

The idling speed will be set to 1000 rpm.

The following limitations apply: Pedal position sensor adjustable to max 20%, fuel quantity max 20 mm 3 /combustion, fuel rail pressure max 40 MPa.
