Temperature sensor, engine coolant
Temperature sensor, engine coolant |
The temperature sensor is used to inform the engine control module of the current coolant temperature.
The temperature sensor connections are
1. |
Sensor ground: Pin 1 on the temperature sensor is connected to pin 95 on the engine control module.
|
2. |
Signal, water temperature: Pin 2 on the temperature sensor is connected to pin 99 on the engine control module.
|
The sensor is of type NTC and is supplied with 5 V from the engine control module through a 1 kΩ resistor.
The resistance of the temperature sensor changes with the temperature as follows:
20 °C (68 °F)
|
3550 Ω ±7%
|
100 °C (212 °F)
|
180 Ω ±3%
|
Diagnostics |
If the control module registers an incorrect signal on the sensor input, DTC P0116 will be generated.
If the sensor input is short-circuited to ground, DTC P0117 will be generated.
If the sensor input is short-circuited to B+, DTC P0118 will be generated.
System reaction to a fault
• |
The control module uses a substitute coolant temperature value of -20°C at start ad +60°C when the engine is running.
|
• |
The pedal position sensor is adjustable to max 60%.
