Brief description, 4-cyl |
The exhaust system is designed to lead out the engine exhausts with low flow-through resistance, low noise level and long service life.
The system consists of three components: front pipe with catalytic converter, intermediate silencer, and rear silencer. Both the intermediate and rear silencers are absorption silencers.
The exhaust system is protected from corrosion with all pipes made of chromium steel. In addition, the silencers are manufactured from corrosion retarding 12-per cent chromium steel plate. The exhaust manifold is cast and is connected to the turbocharger.
The joints are fixed joints with a tapered fit. All joints are without gaskets.
The exhaust system is rubber mounted at nine points. In order to give good ground clearance, the exhaust system is positioned in a floor tunnel.
There are heat shields fitted at points where the heat is most intense. They are manufactured from aluminium or galvanized sheet metal depending on the position of the shield and are used to protect exposed points from heat radiation.
