Vehicle Speed Circuit Malfunction


Fault symptoms


• CHECK ENGINE lamp on.

• Cruise control inoperative.


Conditions

The following conditions apply for this DTC:


• P0503: Vehicle speed from ESP is over 220 km/h.

• P0500: If the vehicle speed is 0 at 30 mg/C and the engine speed exceeds 2700 rpm.

• P0501: If the vehicle speed signal is faulty.


Diagnostic help

Check whether a DTC is present in ESP and if so, start fault diagnosis in ESP.

Switches off the cruise control for the entire driving cycle, the A/C relay and the distance to empty function.

Note

A fault in the control module female connector can cause a trouble code. Check the contact for a bent pin, oxidation and tightness of pins. See Difficult faults in PSG16 despite trouble code .
