Test pressurization of charge air pipe/radiator, V6
1.
Remove the intake manifold from the mass air flow sensor and the turbocharger.
2.
Remove the upper engine cover.
3.
Remove the battery cover.
4.
Remove the battery, undo the fuse board and remove the battery tray.
7.
Connect pressure tester
83 93 514 Boost pressure gauge
and compressed air nozzle and carefully apply a pressure of about 1 bar.
Important
Observe great caution when setting the pressure for the turbo system. Too high a pressure can damage hoses and connections.
8.
Make sure that the pressure does not drop by more than 0.1 bar in 30 seconds. If the pressure drop is greater than this or if there is an audible hissing sound, check hoses, pipes and connections for leaks.
9.
Check the hoses/pipe and compressed air gun for leaks using leak detection fluid, part No. 30 20 385 or similar.
10.
If no leak is found in the hoses or pipes, carry out test pressurization on the removed charge air cooler.
1.
Reduce the pressure in the charge air system and remove the pressure measuring equipment and plugs.
2.
Fit the turbocharger delivery hose to the upper intake manifold.
3.
Fit the charge air hose to the turbocharger delivery pipe under the battery tray.
6.
Fit the battery and battery cover.
7.
Fit the upper engine cover and the intake manifold to the mass air flow sensor and turbocharger.
Tightening torque, mass air flow sensor: 3.5 Nm (2.5 lbf ft)
