Symptom: Parking heater fails to start.

Fault symptom

Parking heater fails to start.

Condition

Parking heater activated.

B+ greater than 16 V.

Diagnostic help

Parking heater can be activated with Tech 2.

Parking heater function can be programmed in SID.

Eberspächer diagnostics instrument used for diagnosis.

Diagnostic procedure

1 Check the battery

•	Check that no battery charger is connected to the battery.

•	Start the engine.

•	Check battery voltage at different engine rpm.

•	Red test lead: B+.

•	Black test lead: B-.

•	The reading obtained should be below 15.5 V.

Test results OK?

YES

-	Go to point 3.

NO

-	Go to point 2.

2 Check the component

•	Check the accumulator and the regulator. See group 3 Electrical system, ’Components’.

Test results OK?

YES

-	Go to point 3.

NO

-	Repair or replace the faulty component.

-	Go to point 3.

3. Final check

•	Delete DTCs in all systems.

•	Contact: SID.

•	Activate parking heater (ON).

•	Perform a functionality check.

•	Evaluate the functionality check.

•	Check that the diagnostic trouble code has not recurred.

Test results OK?

YES

-	Fault rectified successfully.

NO

-	See ’Procedure for replacement of control module’.
