EDC16 control module (595)

To remove


1. Before removing, perform Before changing a control module .

2. Remove the blanking-off washers on the wiper spindle nuts and loosen the nuts slightly.


3. Detach the wiper arms with 85 80 144 Puller, windscreen wiper arm . Remove the nuts and wiper arms.

4. Remove the rubber seals from the wiper arm spindles.

5. Remove the two screw clips on the short sides of the windscreen cover panel.

6. Loosen the rubber seal.

7. Remove the windscreen cover panel by grasping its front edge and lifting it up and forwards. Mind the bonnet release cable's lead-through on the left-hand side.

8. Open the cover and unplug the control module's connector by releasing the catches.


9. Remove the control module's 2 retaining nuts and remove them. A 10 mm magnetic socket will be useful for this.

Important

Take care when releasing the locking mechanism on the connector so as not to damage the connector. Pull the halves straight apart to avoid bending the pins. For further information regarding connectors, refer to Connectors, handling and inspection .


10. Lift the control module straight up.


Important

ESD-SENSITIVE COMPONENT

Touch a source of ground, e.g. the car body, before unplugging/plugging in component connectors. Do not touch the pins on the components .

When changing control module

• Keep the new control module in its original packaging for as long as possible.

• Place the exchanged control module in the return packaging without touching its pins.


To fit


1. Position the control module from above.

2. Fit the 2 control module retaining nuts.


3. Spray the control module connector with Electronic cleaner, El-Mec Clean or equivalent and and connect it.

Important

Take care when plugging in the connector so as not to damage or press out the pins/sleeves in the connector. For further information regarding connectors, refer to Connectors, handling and inspection .


4. Fit the protective cover on the control module.

5. Fit the windscreen cover. Be careful with the bonnet release wire on the left-hand side.


6. Fit the rubber seal.

7. Fit the screws clips on the short sides of the windscreen cover panel.

8. Fit the rubber wiper spindle seals.

9. Fit the nuts on the wiper spindles with the blanking-off washers on the nuts.

10. Perform Measures after changing a control module .

11. Reset immobilization as follows:

Connect Tech2 and turn the ignition to ON

Select Body and TWICE

Select Immobilization. After 10 seconds the immobilizer is programmed.
