Fuel pressure sensor, fuel rail (653), Z19

Important

Be very thorough in terms of cleanliness when working in the fuel system. Malfunctions can also occur due to very small dirt particles. Prevent dirt from entering the fuel system by cleaning the hoses and plugging the pipes and lines upon removal using 93 161 370 Plug set. Store the components so that contaminants cannot enter.



1. Remove the upper engine cover and insulation.

2. Remove the retaining bolts of the vacuum lines. Move the pipes aside slightly.

Important

Take care when releasing the locking mechanism on the connector so as not to damage the connector. Pull the halves straight apart to avoid bending the pins. For further information regarding connectors, refer to Connectors, handling and inspection .



3. Unplug the pressure sensor connector.

Warning

Diesel under high pressure! So wait a minute after switching off the engine before the boost pressure control valve is removed. Diesel fumes are explosive and can cause severe burn injuries.


4. Remove the pressure sensor.


To fit


1. Fit the pressure sensor.

Important

Take care when plugging in the connector so as not to damage or press out the pins/sleeves in the connector. For further information regarding connectors, refer to Connectors, handling and inspection .



2. Plug in the pressure sensor connector.

3. Reposition the pipes and fit the retaining bolts of the vacuum lines.

4. Fit the insulation and upper engine cover.

5. If a new pressure sensor has been fitted: Connect the diagnostic tool to restore adaptation values. Select Menu - Engine - Engine management system - Adjustment - Fuel Pressure Sensor Replaced.

6. Connect an exhaust hose and start the engine to check for leaks.

Connect the diagnostic tool and clear any diagnostic trouble codes.
