The head unit and CD changer are connected to the I-bus. When the head unit and CD changer are first installed, they are married to the vehicle. This is a process which is performed by means of Tech 2. During the marriage the head unit and CD changer identify the theft protection information from the vehicle. From this moment in time the head unit and CD changer will
only
work in
this
particular vehicle.
This also means that if the head unit or CD changer is removed and is not to be refitted in the same vehicle, it must be divorced from the vehicle before being removed.

If the head unit is DIVORCED, “TheftLock is activated” appears on the unit's screen when activated. If the CD changer is DIVORCED, the SID displays “RADIO CODE” when activated.

•If the head unit is still married to another Saab 9-5, “TheftLock is activated” appears on the unit's display when activated. If the CD changer is still married to another Saab 9-5, the SID displays “CDC LOCKED” when activated. In order to divorce one of the units by means of Tech 2, the unit must be installed in the vehicle to which it is married.

The head unit and CD changer must be divorced before being returned for warranty repairs. The supplier cannot divorce them and will charge for all linked units sent to them.
