Service message, petrol driven cars

Service message, petrol driven cars

General

The SID control module is fitted with a service indicator which displays a “Time for service. Contact workshop.” message on the display when it is time to service the car. The timing of this is determined by the distance driven and the elapsed time since the last service.

The service interval is programmable and is programmed during production according to the various markets. If necessary, the interval can be changed using the diagnostic tool.

Activation of the service message

Depending upon which occurs first, the service message is displayed either when the day counter reaches the maximum number of days or when 1000 km or 600 miles remain to the next service.

The message is displayed when the ignition is switched on in conjunction with “CHECKING”.

Manual reset

The service message is reset by holding the CLR button depressed for at least 8 seconds. An acoustic signal is sounded when the deletion is complete. The message can only be deleted when it is displayed on the SID. The reset initiates a new service interval and zeroes the day counter.

Automatic reset

The service message is reset automatically when it has been activated (shown) on the display 60 times.

Reset with diagnostic tool

The service message can be reset using the diagnostic tool even if it has not been activated. This is useful if a service is carried out before a long journey for example. The time to next service is then calculated starting from the current odometer reading. On resetting, the day counter is also zeroed at the same time.
