Certain weld joints on the car may be MIG brazed whereby the filler material is bronze rod. The characteristic sign of MIG brazing is that the joint is gold coloured. MIG brazing must always be replaced with new MIG brazing.

To remove |

Drill out the spot-welds.

Grind down the welds that hold the roof to the A-pillars. Note that the welds may be MIG brazed.

3. |
Tap loose the roof and align any damaged sheet metal and panels.

To fit |

Grind all the surfaces that are to be welded.
|
2. |
Apply welding primer to the surfaces that are to be welded.
|
3. |
Apply sealant between the rear roof member (not the hinge member) and the roof panel. Use Terostat 1K-PUR.

4. |
Drill holes for plug welding.
|
5. |
Align the new roof and secure it with a few welding clamps.
|
6. |
Spot and pug weld on the roof and the metal strip for the upper sealing strip.

7. |
Seam weld the roof to the A-pillars.
Certain cars : Replace the MIG brazing. |

Grind the welds.

9. |
Remove any remaining welding primer. Welding primer reduces adhesion of paint, filler and sealant.
|
10. |
Apply primer to all bare metal surfaces.
|
11. |
Seal joints and seams with sealant.
|
12. |
Apply anti-corrosion agent to edge of the roof after painting. Use Terotex HV 400.
