Brief description, cooling system

General

The cooling system is an overpressure system with cross-flow radiator and expansion tank. The cooling system includes both engine oil cooling and transmission fluid cooling. Cars for the Nordic markets are equipped with a parking heater.

The coolant pump, which is a radial pump, is integrated in the engine and is located on the right side of the cylinder head. The pump is driven by the crankshaft via the belt circuit.

The thermostat, which is a traditional wax thermostat, is located on the outlet side in a housing on the left side of the engine. The thermostat cannot be replaced separately. It must be replaced as a completely thermostat housing. The opening temperature of the thermostat is 88°C (190 F). It is fully open at 103°C (217 F). The expansion tank is located on the left side of the engine compartment. The coolant filler cap also houses a safety valve, which opens at 1.4 bar.

The car is equipped with two electric radiator fans that are located behind the radiator. These fans can be run at 4 different speeds and are regulated by ECM.
