Front exhaust pipe

To remove


1. Raise the car.

2. Remove the lower engine cover.


3. Remove the three bolts connecting the front pipe with the particle filter/rear catalytic converter.

4. Remove the three bolts holding the pipe with the front catalytic converter.


5. Remove the mounting in the oil sump.

6. Remove the pipe. If the pipe is to be refitted, be careful with the flex section. It must not be bent more than 5°.


To fit


1. Lubricate the studs with screw-thread paste and fit the pipe between the front and rear catalytic converter. Use new gaskets and new nuts.

Important

Be careful with the flexible part. It must not be bent by more than 5°.



2. Fit the mounting in the oil sump.

Tighten the nuts.

Tightening torque: 25 Nm (18 lbf ft)

3. Lower the car to the floor.

4. Connect an exhaust hose and start the engine. Check the exhaust system for leaks.

5. Fit the lower engine cover.
