MIG brazing equipment

Some weld seams on the Saab 9-3 (9440) CV has a new type of seam with bronze wire, known as MIG brazing. The affected areas are the sill, windscreen frame and at the A-pillars. MIG brazing can be identified by its gold colour.

In the event of sheet metal damage in an area with MIG brazing, a new method must be used that requires a new type of equipment.

Depending on the equipment and the sheet metal thickness, different welding equipment settings are required. These are known as welding parameters.

Ensure that independent workshops have parameters for the localised areas as well as the relevant method from WIS. In all cases, pure argon gas is to be used and the welding wire must be 1 mm.

Warning

MIG brazing is not to be repaired using a conventional welding method or standard filler. Cracks could form, which would impair impact characteristics.
