Helicoil threads can come loose or get destroyed during an oil change if they have been tightened with excessive torque.

Conditions

The following conditions apply for this fault symptom:


Can happen during service or during draining of oil


Diagnostic procedure




1. Do NOT replace the oil sump, rather install new Helicoil threads and a new oil plug.

Tightening torque, oil plug 25 Nm (19 lbf ft)

2. Helicoil kits are delivered by SPX Europe, article numbers J-42385-100, J-42385-200, J-42385-700, J43965


Note

It is important that the oil sump plug be tightened to the correct torque during service and installation
