Night Panel

Night Panel

The SID control module has a NIGHT PANEL function which extinguishes the instrument and display lighting when it is activated.

When the NIGHT PANEL button is depressed the SID control module sends the bus message "NIGHT PANEL ON".

The main instrument unit then switches off the instrument and display lighting.

The tachometer, fuel gauge and temperature gauge needles return to their zero positions when the lighting has been turned off.

Only the speedometer, control lamps and warning lamps continue to be displayed.

The following gauges/displays return to their normal state under the following circumstances:

The tachometer if the engine speed exceeds 5400 rpm (manual petrol-engined models), 5900 rpm (automatics), 4000 rpm (diesel-engined cars).

The fuel gauge and temperature gauge if the fuel level in the tank is below 15 litres.

The fuel gauge and temperature gauge if the engine temperature exceeds 120 °C (248 °F)(4 cyl).

The selector lever display lights up if the selector lever is NOT in position D.

The information display shows open door.

The information display shows the symbol for TPMS (certain markets)

The information display lights up when there is a check message or when the steering wheel controls i-SET or CLR are depressed.

If the NIGHT PANEL button is pressed again, the SID control module sends the bus information "NIGHT PANEL OFF", whereupon the main instrument unit first resets all gauges to normal display and then switches on the illumination.
