Warning

Read through Safety and handling instructions before starting work.


To remove


1. Put the ignition in OFF position.

2. Remove driver's airbag (333D)

3. Turn the steering wheel so that the wheels are in the straight-ahead position.

4. Slacken the steering nut a few turns and pull the steering wheel so it releases from the steering column. Remove the steering wheel nut.

Important

Take care when releasing the locking mechanism on the connector so as not to damage the connector. Pull the halves straight apart to avoid bending the pins. For further information regarding connectors, refer to Connectors, handling and inspection .



5. Remove the connector of the contact roller.

6. Remove the steering wheel.


To fit


1. Fit the steering wheel on the steering shaft.

Note

Make sure the steering wheel fits the coding on the steering shaft.


Important

Take care when plugging in the connector so as not to damage or press out the pins/sleeves in the connector. For further information regarding connectors, refer to Connectors, handling and inspection .


2. Fit the connector of the contact roller.


3. Fit the nut.

Tightening torque 39 Nm (28.8 lbf ft)

4. Fit driver's airbag (333D)
