Airbag warning lamp

Airbag warning lamp

System faults are indicated by the airbag warning lamp in the main instrument display panel lighting up and remaining on.

During normal operation, the SRS control module sends a message on the I-bus to extinguish the airbag warning lamp. If this message is not present, the MIU turns on the warning lamp. The SRS can under certain circumstances also send a bus request for the warning lamp to be turned on, to ensure that the light comes on as soon as possible.

The car is equipped with a central warning lamp which the MIU ((Main Instrument Unit) lights up together with the airbag warning lamp.

When the ignition key is turned to Start of Drive, the airbag warning lamp comes on for 3-4 seconds and then goes out, provided there are no fault codes.

If diagnostic trouble codes are stored in the memory, the lamp lights up for 3-4 seconds and then goes out for half a second, following which it comes on and remains on continuously until the ignition is switched off or the diagnostic trouble codes are erased.

If an airbag or seat-belt tensioner has been triggered, the airbag warning lamp will remain on continuously.
