Front impact sensor
Front impact sensor |
The role of the front impact sensor is to detect impact intensity at an early stage. The front impact sensor contains an acceleration sensor and a communication circuit. The sensor sends digital information on acceleration and status via a lead to the control unit. The control module performs calculations and determines whether or not activation of the detonator is required. See SRS control module .
The system has two front impact sensors located in the bumper rail at the front of the car. Two leads are connected to each sensor to supply power and transfer signals to the control module. The sensors send status messages and information on impact pulse to the SRS control module.
The front impact sensors can be diagnosed using Tech2.
