Compressor low-pressure pipe, Z19

The compressor's low-pressure pipe runs from the expansion valve to the joint behind the headlamp.

Important

Be careful not to contaminate the expansion valve.

To remove

1. Drain the refrigerant from the A/C system. See Draining and filling of refrigerant .

2. Detach the inlet hose with mass air flow sensor without unplugging the contact and place it to one side.

3. Remove the connector.

4. Remove the connector's mounting.

5. Detach the low-pressure pipe from the junction block behind the headlamp.

6. Loosen and push aside the power-steering oil container.

7. Detach the rear end of the low-pressure pipe from the expansion valve.

Plug the openings.

8. Loosen the pipe from the holders on the structure.

9. Carefully lift out the low-pressure pipe.

To fit

1. Position the rear end of the low-pressure pipe in its correct location.

Adjust the oil level in the compressor. See Filling and adjustment of compressor oil .

2. Remove the plugs and lubricate the O-rings on the low-pressure pipe. Use Vaseline, Klüber Syntheso Pro AA2 .

3. Connect the low-pressure pipe to the expansion valve.

Tightening torque: 7 Nm (5 lbf ft)

4. Fit the power-steering oil container.

5. Fasten the pipe with the holders on the structure.

6. Fit the O-ring on the connection to the connector. Use Vaseline Klüber Syntheso Pro AA2 .

7. Press together the joint block and tighten.

Tightening torque: 8 Nm (6 lbf ft)

8. Fit the connector's mounting.

9. Plug in the connector.

10. Fit the inlet hose and mass air flow sensor.

11. Evacuate the A/C system and fill with R134a refrigerant. See Draining and filling of refrigerant .
