Evaporator high-pressure pipe, Z19

The evaporator's high-pressure pipe consists of two pipes running from the receiver via a joint by the console behind the right-hand headlamp to the expansion valve.

Important

Be careful not to contaminate the expansion valve.

To remove

1. Place the car on a lift.

2. Drain the refrigerant from the A/C system. See Draining and filling of refrigerant .

3. Detach the inlet hose with mass air flow sensor, without unplugging the connector, and place it on one side.

4. Unplug the connector.

5. Remove the connector's mounting.

6. Detach the front end of the high-pressure pipe from the joint by the console behind the right-hand headlamp and plug the openings.

7. Loosen and push aside the power-steering oil container.

8. Detach the rear end of the high-pressure pipe from the expansion valve.

Plug the openings.

9. Loosen the high-pressure pipe from the holders on the structure.

10. Carefully lift out the high-pressure pipe.

11. Hang up the left-hand section of the radiator core using 83 95 212 Strap .

12. Raise the car.

13. Remove the front cover.

14. Remove the radiator core's left-hand mounting.

15. Detach the pipes from the connection to the receiver and plug the openings.

Important

If the desiccant container has been open for more than 15 minutes in total, it should be changed.

16. Loosen the pipe from the holders on the subframe and move it forward between the radiator and the subframe.

Note

Make a note of how the pipe is positioned before removing it.

To fit

1. Position the front end of the high-pressure pipe. Move the pipe in between the radiator and the subframe.

2. Remove the plugs, replace and lubricate the O-rings on the high-pressure pipe with Vaseline, Klüber Syntheso Pro AA2 .

3. Connect the pipe's PAD connections to the receiver.

Tightening torque: 8 Nm (5.9 lbf ft)
