Brake caliper, rear wheel, swinging caliper

To remove



1. Raise the car and remove the wheel.

2. Press in the piston with a pair of adjustable pliers and remove the clamp from the hydraulic body.

Slightly loosen the hose connection to the hydraulic body.

3. Depress the brake pedal slightly, using a brake pedal clamp.

4. Remove fuse No. 1 for the brake lights.

5. Remove the clip from the brake pipe.


6. Remove the hose from the brake pipe and plug the pipe.

7. Remove the two brake caliper bolts and lift away the caliper.


8. Detach the brake hose from the hydraulic body.


To fit



1. Connect the hose to the hydraulic body.

Tightening torque 43 Nm (32 lbf ft).

2. Fit the brake caliper and tighten its two bolts to torque using Loctite 242 no. 749 62 68 on the threads.

Tightening torque 80 Nm (59 lbf ft)

Fit the dust caps.

Tighten the hose to the hydraulic body and fit the clamp.

3. Fit the brake hose to the pipe


4. Fit the clip.

Important

Bear in mind the twisting of the hose so that it is not refitted incorrectly.


5. Lower the car slightly, remove the brake pedal clamp and put the fuse back in its holder.


6. Bleed the brake system, see Bleeding the brake system .

7. Fit the rear wheels, see Wheels .

Tightening torques

aluminium wheel 110 Nm (81 lbf ft)

steel wheel 50 Nm +2x90°, max. 110 Nm (37 lbf ft +2x90°, max. 81 lbf ft)

Important

The wheel must hang freely when the wheel bolts are being tightened.


8. Lower the car to the floor and depress the brake pedal to force out the brake pistons.

9. Check the brake fluid level and top up as necessary.
