Lower transverse link

Lower transverse link

To remove

1. Raise the car and remove the rear wheel on the side in question.

2. Unhook the exhaust system's rear and centre rubber hangers. Hang up the exhaust system so that it does not put too much of a strain on the front rubber hangers and flexible section.

3. Unbolt the lower transverse link from the longitudinal link.

4. Unbolt the upper transverse link from the longitudinal link.

5. Unbolt the anti-roll bar from the longitudinal link.

6. Remove the subframe retaining bolts on the side to be fitted with a new transverse link and slacken the retaining bolts on the other side.

7. Remove the bolt securing the transverse link to the subframe and lower away the transverse link.

To fit

1. Mount the transverse link in place on the subframe and fit a new nut on the bolt but do not tighten it yet.

Warning

The transverse link retaining bolts with protective sleeves must be refitted in the same way as they were when removed. They protect the fuel tank and fuel filler pipe in the event of a collision.

2. Raise the subframe into position but do not tighten the retaining bolts.

3. Tighten the bolt securing the anti-roll bar to the longitudinal link.

Tightening torque 50 Nm (40 lbf ft)

4. Tighten the bolt securing the upper transverse link to the longitudinal link.

Tightening torque 90 Nm +60° (70 lbf ft +60°) .

5. Tighten the bolt securing the lower transverse link to the longitudinal link.

Tightening torque 90 Nm +60° (70 lbf ft +60°) .

6. Tighten the subframe retaining bolts.

Tightening torque 90 Nm +60° (70 lbf ft +60°) .

7. Hook the exhaust system's rear and centre rubber hangers into place.

8. Fit the wheel. See Wheels .

Tightening torques

aluminium rim 110 Nm (81 lbf ft)

pressed steel rim 50 Nm +2x90°, max. 110 Nm (37 lbf ft +2x90°, max. 81 lbf ft)

Lower the car to the floor.

9. Tighten the bolts securing the transverse links to the subframe.

Important

It is important to ensure that all four wheels of the car are on the ground when the bolts are tightened.
