To remove

1. Raise the car and remove the rear wheels.

2. Unhook the exhaust system's rear and centre rubber hangers. Hang up the exhaust system so that it does not put too much of a strain on the front rubber hangers and flexible section.

3. Unbolt the lower transverse link from the longitudinal link on both sides of the car.

4. Unbolt the upper transverse link from the longitudinal link on both sides of the car.

5. Unbolt the anti-roll bar from the longitudinal link on both sides of the car.

6. Remove the subframe retaining bolts and lower the subframe complete with anti-roll bar and transverse links.

7. Remove the anti-roll bar and transverse links.

Warning

The transverse link retaining bolts with protective sleeves must be refitted in the same way as they were when removed. They protect the fuel tank and fuel filler pipe in the event of a collision.

To fit

1. Bolt the anti-roll bars to the subframe.

Tightening torque 50 Nm (40 lbf ft)

2. Mount the transverse links on the subframe but do not tighten the bolts. Fit new nuts.

Warning

3. Raise the subframe with anti-roll bar and transverse links into position but do not tighten the subframe retaining bolts.

4. Tighten the bolts securing the anti-roll bar to the longitudinal link on both sides of the car.

5. Bolt the upper transverse link to the longitudinal link on both sides of the car.

Tightening torque 90 Nm +60° (70 lbf ft +60°) .

6. Tighten the bolt securing the lower transverse link to the longitudinal link on both sides of the car.

Tightening torque 90 Nm +60° (70 lbf ft +60°) .

7. Tighten the subframe retaining bolts.

Tightening torque 90 Nm +60° (70 lbf ft +60°) .

8. Hook the exhaust system's rear and centre rubber hangers into place.

9. Fit the wheels, see Wheels .

Tightening torques

aluminium rim 110 Nm (81 lbf ft)

pressed steel rim 50 Nm +2x90°, max. 110 Nm (37 lbf ft +2x90°, max. 81 lbf ft)

Lower the car to the floor.

10. Tighten the bolts securing the transverse links to the subframe.

Important

It is important to ensure that all four wheels of the car are on the ground when the bolts are tightened.

Tightening torque 90 Nm (70 lbf ft) +60°.

11. Check the toe-in and adjust as necessary, see “Wheel alignment” in the “Steering linkage” section.
