Read this first!

Check that Tech 2 software and the TIS 2000 software in the computer to be used are the latest, correct versions for SPS programming.

Tools for SPS programming

PC with TIS2000 and WIS installed

Dongle and adapter

Tech 2 with 32 Mbits card

Tech 2 PC cable with RS232 adapter (max. 10 m long)

86 12 533 Battery tester 311 (EU)

86 12 525 Battery tester 311 (US)

Needle-nosed pliers

Important

All current consuming components/systems, such as lighting, ACC, audio system, seat heaters, seat ventilation and cooling fans, must be turned off during SPS programming.

12 volt minimum requirement for programming

The battery must be in good condition for successful SPS programming. Before starting the procedure, you must check the battery. Do so with battery tester 86 12 533 (EU) or 86 12 525 (US). Follow the instructions provided with the battery tester. Remove the main fuses from the car to eliminate "background noise" from the system during the test. Fit the main fuses on completion of the test.

If necessary, charge the battery with a trickle charger (less than 15 A) while performing SPS programming. Do not use a quick charger (greater than 20 A) as this can disrupt SPS programming.
