Antenna system, radio (5D)

Two types of antenna are available for the audio system:

Antenna system 1 with an AM/FM antenna and antenna amplifier is intended for audio systems Popular, Premium and Prestige.
|
•

Antenna system 2 with an AM/FM antenna and an FM antenna with antenna amplifier for each antenna is intended for audio systems Premium and Prestige.
|
The antennas for radio reception are integrated in the rear side windows and are located as follows:

The AM/FM antenna is located in the rear right side window.
|
•
|
The FM antenna is located in the rear left side window.
|
The rear side windows are the same on all markets.
The antenna amplifiers are located in the roof above the respective rear side window and are available in three models, one for antenna system 1 and two for antenna system 2.
The antenna signal is amplified in the antenna amplifier and passed via the coaxial cable to the head unit (radio). The amplifier is powered with a trigger voltage from pin 14 (K16A) on the head unit and is grounded by being bolted to the body.
Antenna system 1 comprises:

coaxial cable between the antenna amplifier and the head unit (radio)

Antenna system 2 comprises:

AM/FM antenna integrated in the rear right side window.

AM/FM antenna amplifier, on right-hand side
|
•
|
FM antenna integrated in the rear left side window
|
•
|
FM antenna amplifier on the left-hand side
|
•
|
coaxial cable between the FM amplifier on the left-hand side and the AM/FM amplifier on the right-hand side

•
|
coaxial cable between the AM/FM amplifier and the head unit (radio)

Antenna system 2 has a diversity functions, which means that whichever of the two antennas is giving the best signal is used by the radio receiver. The diversity function works only together with the Saab audio systems Premium and Prestige.
