Xenon lamp, changing

Warning

HIGH TENSION

The headlamp/AHL control module and xenon headlamp ignition transformer generate a voltage in excess of 23 000 V. This voltage can be lethal to individuals with a weak heart or pacemaker. Treat this system with great respect and turn off the ignition before working on the system's components.


Warning

Read through Safety and handling instructions, headlamps with xenon bulbs before starting.


Removal


1. Turn the ignition key to LOCK.

2. LH: Remove the battery.

RH: Remove the mass air flow sensor with hose. Do not unplug the connector.

3. Remove the xenon lamp cover.

4. Rotate the catch, which retains the xenon lamp, anticlockwise.


5. Lift the xenon lamp straight out from the headlamp.

6. Unplug the xenon lamp connector.



Refitting


1. Plug the xenon lamp into the connector.


2. Position the bulb by carefully inserting it straight into the headlamp housing.

Note

To avoid an incorrect light image, make sure that the lamp is fitted in the correct position.


3. Rotate the catch clockwise


4. Fit the xenon lamp cover.

5. LH: Fit the battery.

RH: Fit the mass air flow sensor with hose.

6. Clear any trouble codes.

7. Make sure that the lamp is fitted correctly by checking the light image.
