Tire and Wheel Runout Specifications

Condition of Tires

If the minimum tread depth of the tire is reached (wear indicator visible on the tire) the customer must be informed and "Tire wear indicator visible" written under "Observations" on the service plan checklist with VL / VR, HL / HR given in mm. In this case the actual remaining tread depth must be measured and documented (except for the spare wheel, for which the text "Tire wear indicator visible" is sufficient).

Note

For safety reasons, tires should be replaced when the tread depth is 2 to 3 mm. The legally permissible minimum tread depth (1.6 mm) is reached when the tread is worn down as far as a tread wear indicator. A number of wear indicators are evenly distributed in the tread base. Their locations are marked on the sidewall.

All vehicles leaving an GM factory are fitted with tread wear indicators. See the owner's manual for the use of snow chains.

Use the operational profile of the tire to assess whether the tracking or axles need to be checked - and invoiced separately.

On tires with an unidirectional tread, make sure that the direction markings are correctly observed. Only change tires round on the same axles.
